Since 1979, the Maple Leaf has been produced in gold, the silver coin Maple Leaf 1 oz is manufactured since 1988.
The maple leaf is considered a landmark in Canada, as it is also part of the Canadian flag. The sugar maple was used here as a template for the artwork. The design is made by Celia Godkin.
